Ship work you can trust

Fitting, repairing and removing ship parts now require being able to reach and see the actual part — checked by the server, every time.

Ships are the most valuable things most Wildtide players own. Over two releases we tightened the rules that protect them.

Reach and sight, part by part

The server now works out where each individual component actually is — from the ship's current position, heading and hull — and checks that you can reach it and see it:

  • Removing a part (hold X) is checked when the hold starts and again before the part comes off.
  • Fitting a part and every blow of the repair hammer get the same check.

Work through an intact hull, through a deck, or from behind solid obstacles is refused before any parts or materials are taken. A hold is also tied to that specific ship, so moving away or the ship changing cannot turn an old hold into a removal.

Legitimate work is unchanged: fit or repair from the deck, from the water beside the hull, or from a suitable dock or shore. Ownership, Ship Access, Crew ranks, costs and repair amounts all stay as they were.

Cleaner chat

In the same release window, chat got quieter and easier to read:

  • Joining or reconnecting starts you with an empty chat log; crossing a region keeps your current session's lines.
  • Routine arrival, sleep, wake and departure messages no longer fill world chat.
  • You can scroll back through up to 200 lines with the mouse wheel without touching the hotbar or the sailing camera.
