Wildtide v0.59.43.6.2 is now live on the official servers. It rolls up a run of fixes and features from the last few days, most of them about making a Schooner cabin feel like home.
Lock your cabin
Until now, anyone who climbed aboard could open a cabin door. That's fixed.
- Locked by default. Doors and shutters on Schooners and Original Schooners are locked to outsiders. The owner opens them with E, and Ship Access and eligible Crew ranks can be allowed in too.
- Crew Access per door. Press B at a door to open Access → This door · Aboard. Set one door, every door of the same kind, or every door and shutter aboard, with a preview and confirmation for bulk changes. New doors on a Crew ship follow the Crew's default.
- No locking out your betters. On Crew-owned ships, managers can't shut out their own rank or those above it.
- Locks are saved with the ship through restarts and region crossings.
One difference from land: a survivor who loses access while inside a cabin at sea needs someone with access to let them out.
Rain without the slowdown
Heavy rain aboard a Schooner could pull the game down to around 21–31 frames per second, whatever the graphics setting. The cause was the game working out which parts of the deck keep the rain off far more often than it needed to. In the same scenes it now holds about 57–81 frames per second — as smooth as clear weather — with the rain, splashes and shelter looking exactly the same.
Building polish

- The wheel goes where it fits. Place it anywhere it physically fits on the deck or a supported cabin roof. If something's in the way — a mast, rigging, a ladder, a hatch or a stair landing — the preview tells you what.
- Walls behind the wheel. The space kept clear for the helmsman now follows the wheel's real position, so a cabin's back wall can be built once the wheel is out of the way.
- Roof edges. Wood Half Walls and Wood Railings can line a supported cabin roof, including the edges beside stair landings. Full walls and doorways aren't allowed up there.
- Walls and sails. A cabin wall can now stand where a sail's sheet comes down — the sheet is made fast on the wall's cap instead of being blocked.
- Wheelhouses work. A cabin with its doorway in front of the wheel is now accepted, as long as the helm can still be reached.
- Stairs through doorways. Survivors could walk up stairs that started at a doorway but not back down. Fixed.
Sleepers stay ashore
A survivor logged out at sea, with no ship beneath them, is moved towards the nearest shore when the world loads. In a rare case that move could leave them still under water and push them again on every load. Now the game only accepts proper dry ground, and keeps the survivor where they were if none is found. Survivors sleeping aboard a valid ship stay aboard.
